Well folks, the FGC news doesn’t stop

Skybound Studios announced Invincible VS. A new 2D 3v3 Tag based fighter. In case you couldn’t guess based in the title it features characters from the Invincible series.

There is still much the general public doesn’t know about this game. How many fighters will be on the roster or if it will feature characters not yet shown in the animated Amazon TV show. The voice cast seems to have returned to the game as we can hear J.K Simmons and Steven Yeun in the trailer. We do know that the game will showcase their trademark hyper-violence and gore both the comic and the TV show are known for. 

It’s been an amazing week for fighting game and fighting game news. Kicking things off with season 3 of Street Fighter 6 with the release of Elena. The announcement of Marvel vs Capcom 4 Marvel Token Fighting Souls from ArcSys, and now this. The memes making their way around the internet for people holding funerals for 2XKO (I’m not going to double check to make sure I actually got that last title correct), A game that hasn’t released. Simply because of this surge in tag fighters we have on the horizon — is quite humorous, if not a little mean spirited. XK20 looks great. It just has a ridiculous name. However, so does “not” MvC4. 

I imagine with EVO in Vegas right around the corner we are going to see a lot more from there new titles, plus major updates from existing ongoing titles. 

I didn’t want to write this simply because it’s major FGC news. That’s not what motivates me to post here. I really wanted to write something because I’m a huge Invincible fan. While not yet caught up in the show, I have ready through the whole comic series. I find the idea for this game incredibly exciting depending on how deep they go. Do we keep things small as to not spoil the huge fan base the show has garnered? Or do we explore the whole damn story and give fans of the show something to be excited about when the show inevitably reaches these new heights? I much prefer the latter.

However, I feel we have a wealth of obvious choices to follow the rest of the confirmed roster. I imagine we will get

• Dupli-Kate
• Thragg
• Anissa
• Monster Girl
• Robot
• Battle Beast

And a ton more. 

I also imagine based on the art style they do a comic style for cutscenes to tell the story, really cementing it in the comic universe. Also, since we are talking roster, and guest characters are always a huge draw. It’s Image comics. Let’s get Spawn in there. And if you wanna add in one just to make me and a few comic nerds really happy. Add in Invincible’s spiritual successor; Radiant Black. 

Like many, I imagine I’m not alone in saying I can’t wait to see what details we have in store for us with this title. As well as the others coming soon. Exciting times to be a part of the FGC!
